About Craig

Christian and Adult Contemporary Songwriter

"For we are God's handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do."

Ephesians 2:10

In the music industry, a question exists over whether songwriters are born or made. For Craig Prickett, the drive to create music began with his earliest memories.

As a child, Craig’s mother introduced him to the joy of music as she played the piano. Craig would spent hours singing on a swing in his backyard. This enjoyment inspired Craig to take piano lessons during his adolescence and music theory in his teens. He wrote his first song at the age of fourteen.

When the music of legendary songwriters like The Beatles and Elton John hit the airwaves, Craig’s passion for songwriting intensified. The lyrics and arrangement of those songs moved him to spend “study hall” honing his songwriting skills and to play in several bands in his teen years. At age nineteen Craig began a personal relationship with Jesus. During this time, the traditional Christian hymns of Craig’s youth began to take root and hold a deeper meaning both spiritually and musically. While many musicians long for the stage, these formative years of pursuing music taught Craig his true passion was for songwriting.

The call to write and compose music has followed Craig throughout his life. While raising a family and working as a partner of C.L. Prickett Antiques, Craig devoted his free time to studying and perfecting the art of songwriting.

In the 1980s, Craig was introduced to Glenn Barrett, the two-time Grammy winning engineer and Owner of Morning Star Studios in East Norriton. The two formed a decades-long partnership to produce and record Craig’s original songs. In the 1980’s Craig collaborated with Leslie K. McDonnell, a talented arranger and vocalist, to record and distribute his first album. In the 1990s, Craig recorded a solo album of original Christian music and, from this album, his first song debuted on Christian radio. Throughout the 2000s, Craig continued to write Christian and Adult Contemporary music.

In 2016, Craig began a concerted effort to complete the project he was working on with Glenn Barratt. These are the eighteen original Christian and Adult Contemporary songs that are now featured on Craig Prickett Music for enjoyment, purchase, and distribution.

Today, Craig and his wife, Salome, reside in Yardley, Pennsylvania. Upon retiring from C.L. Prickett Antiques, Craig enjoys spending time with their three grown children and three grandchildren, in addition to devoting time to writing and producing original Christian and Adult Contemporary Music. Craig’s desire to write creative music that resonates with others continues to inspire his work today.

My Christian Testimony

When I think about my Christian testimony, I think of the moment when I accepted Jesus as my Savior. In hindsight, however, I recognize God’s hand in my life long before I accepted Him on a personal level. To me, this realization affirms the depth of God’s love and His role in painting the bigger picture of our lives.

Growing up, my family attended a Methodist Church and, while it is likely the gospel message of salvation was shared with me as a child, I do not recall it having a personal impact. Nevertheless, my upbringing in church gave me a solid belief in the God of the Bible throughout my childhood and teens.

When I was nineteen, a man came into my place of employment and began talking with me about his Christian faith. I was captivated not only by what he was saying, but by the Biblical truths he shared. This encounter compelled me to join his Bible Study, where my faith grew, and I accepted Jesus personally as my Lord and Savior. I can recall the moment when someone said, “If there is no God, there are no moral absolutes, no moral truth”. It was as though a flame was ignited and I saw everything in a new light. I realized I could not live in a world where the Creator could not be counted upon for certainty and guidance.  To this day it reassures me to know God is in control. He will never leave me or forsake me.

After this moment, my life changed. Accepting the Lord breathed new life into the Word of God for me and I was born again. My faith has continued to deepen and carry me through the peaks and valleys of life. As I look back now, I recognize the journey of my faith began in that moment years ago.

For me, as many Christians experience, there are times when God’s presence feels profound and palpable, as if He is close enough to touch. In other seasons, I continue to believe by faith, but wonder why God feels so distant. There are many mysteries that we wrestle with on earth, but God’s promise of eternal life continues to encourage me every step of the way. The best days, however, are the days my heart is filled with the “Joy of the Lord”!

Knowing Jesus Christ personally brings joy and meaning to my life and to my music.
